This
summer, a national law firm, headquartered in Chicago, asked HPi/OI
Partners, to help them support a firm wide restructuring effort. A significant
number of associates at offices around the U.S. would be affected and
they wanted to provide professional and consistent career transition
services for young attorneys. Mike Farrell, HPi Vice President for Client
Services, said “… the combination of HPi’s long standing
expertise in working with attorneys and law firms, combined with the
national service delivery capability of the OI Partnership, greatly
contributed to the success of this engagement…”
HPi was able to provide customized career transition materials, specifically
developed for use with attorneys, to all of the OI Partner offices,
which were to be involved in this project. OI Partner offices in New
York, Washington D.C., Dallas and Los Angeles were introduced to law
firm leadership in each city, in order to coordinate notification details
and local contact information. Bob Wilson, HPi President, who managed
the engagement, conducted a virtual training event, so that all OI Partners
were coordinated in their service delivery and expectations for the
project.
As a result of the coordinated efforts, the notifications and local
service delivery proceeded smoothly and seamlessly. All of the law firm
associates were enrolled in the OI Solutions, eCareerCenter suite of
on-line job search tools. Sample legal resumes, networking contacts
and local introductions to appropriate search firm principals and law
firms all greatly contributed to the success of the project. Project
coordination was provided by HPi in Chicago, with exceptional “…local
knowledge and insights…” from the OI Partners across the
country.
Despite a very difficult economy and a climate of significant contraction
in the legal sector nationally, the law firm partner, who oversaw the
restructuring effort, noted that those attorneys who actually worked
with HPi/OI Partners “…landed much more quickly and with
significantly better compensation profiles…” than those
who did not.
